EAST DOWNTOWN.   Something of a local institution, Chuey’s has been in business for over 50 years. It may have changed locations a few times, but the same family still owns the restaurant and continues to be involved and on-site every day. It has a wide local following, people who love the warm, casual ambience, quick, friendly service and reliable, inexpensive Mexican-American eats. True, most folks opt for chile verde, chilaquiles or carnitas, but the burgers aren’t half bad. Ideal for lunch. The place takes on a nightclub atmosphere in the evenings.   (© 10Best)
