PACIFIC BEACH.   Well-known for its fishbowl-sized margaritas (happy hour specials make them wickedly affordable), a free-flowing champagne brunch on Sundays, and a fab patio outfitted with firepits. With a name like Gringo’s you know the food isn’t going to be the most authentic, but the regional specialties section of the menu includes some great options like Tampiquena (grilled sirloin with a manchego cheese enchilada, potato and chile gratin and roasted poblano rajas), and Pollo Huitlacoche (goat cheese stuffed chicken breast with roasted corn calabacitas and Huitlacoche sauce).
