5. Chuao Chocolatier

DEL MAR.   Chuao was the first Venezuelan chocolatier based in the United States. They specialize in non-standard flavor combinations using ingredients like chèvre, green tea, cayenne, black pepper, and balsamic vinegar. Of course, there are still plenty of choices with more traditional flavors, from caramel and marzipan to pralines and coffee. Bars, bonbons and truffles are the big sellers, but you can also enjoy hot chocolate, gelato and pastries. Occasional chocolate-making classes, too.   (© 10Best)
