The first time I visited Bread & Cie I was very pleased with the samples and quickness of the staff. Around town many supermarkets carry their breads and I always pick up a loaf. The only negative I had was when I purchased a sandwich and the bread (just a certain type, I guess) was so chewy my jaw hurt to continue eating it so I asked the employee if I could get the sandwich on another type of bread. They said ok, but then proceeded to scrape off what was left on the old sandwich and dump it on a half slice of new bread! I thought that was extremly stingy and was very disappointed. I will still buy their bread but stay away from their sandwiches.

I travel to Pala Resort and Casino just to go to their Italian restaurant to have the Kalamanta Olive Bread baked by Bread & Cie. I have any one going there bring me a loaf; the restaurant in the Casino will some times sell a loaf. This is the best Kalamanta Olive Bread I have ever eaten and I'm Italian. I just wish there was somewhere in the San Gabriel Valley that sold their bread.

Your breads and scones are to die for and your lattes are way better than Peet's next door. I wish I had not discovered you because I have gained about 10 lbs feasting on your baked goods.

My family LOVES Bread & Cie. The food is always wonderful. We go early on a Saturday morning and enjoy tea/chocolate/coffee and especially the food! There are times, I am sure because you are so very busy, that the service is less than cordial, but primarily it is a wonderful experience.

During my first weeks in the US I really missed European-style bread - but after discovering "Bread & Cie" in Hillcrest (San Diego) I finally found it!!

THE best bread in San Diego. Great crust, chewy, flavorful, original, delicious, glorious bread. Their sandwiches are excellent, too- but you could put anything on that bread and it would be good.
