EMBARCADERO.
A historic, waterfront building, dazzling Art Nouveau decor and sumptuous food hit all the right notes at this always-busy restaurant. Lively yet romantic, the place puts folks immediately at ease and readies them to delight in chef Nancy Oakes' creative cuisine. Her contemporary dishes include roasted veal tenderloin with roasted white beets, Sonoma duck breast and braised pork cheeks. Attentive servers, a knowledgeable sommelier and a great wine list also please guests, who return to Boulevard again and again.

We were seated 45 minutes after our reservation. Hardly saw our waitress. Food was just ok. Would not return.

Boulevard is a SFO institution, located in an old historical building on the Embarcadero. Very "old fashioned" look to the place; dark, lots of wood, Victorian furniture, etc. But, a very busy restaurant with lots of ambiance. After a short wait we were guided to our table, and from there were tempted with more than enough choices of seafood, beef, chicken, etc. Something for everyone, but a little on the expensive side. Everything we ordered was excellent, and the desserts were perhaps the best part of the meal. Save room! Be sure to make advance reservations, as this is one of the hardest places to get into, especially on the weekends. Our hotel concierge knew someone there, and without his help we wouldn't have been able to get in. $$$, but worth it.
