NORTH BEACH.
Act fast and early if you're thinking about Mama's – after lunch you're out of luck. And you certainly don't want to miss the array of perfectly prepared breakfast foods. Generous portions are standard, whether you order a fluffy omelet, a stack of hotcakes or light, fragrant French toast. If you need them, Mama's also offers healthy egg white creations. Quick service is a staple, but even so, weekend brunch has been known to generate waits thanks to the cafe's popularity.

Fantastic breakfast - pancakes and omelets were great - don't miss trying some of the preserves at the table! Come when they open or about 40 minutes afterwards, when the first round is finishing up. The line gets longer from there, even on weekdays. Be prepared as you have to wait outside in the weather. The staff is efficient and friendly. For the kids the meals are big enough to split between two of them.

What a great experience! Awesome food and great staff, all-in-all a wonderful experience! Have to laugh at the "Average Main Course Price: $9.00" though: our bill, for two, was over $80 with tip (only one mimosa each!). Well worth it at any price, can't wait to go back.

Mama's has a diverse menu of daily standards and specials. While nothing on the menu is really the standard fair, most items have been pulled together to offer their guests more than 'the same old thing'. We had the Washington Square Omelet, which contained Italian Sausage, Red Peppers and Pepper Cheese, and French Toast made from Banana Nut Bread. The coffee was extraordinary with just enough espresso flavor to make it one of the best cups I'd had in a while. Well worth the walk and money. I can't wait to go back.
