CHINATOWN.   Henry's Hunan Restaurant, owned and run by chef Henry Chung, specializes in hot, spicy Hunan cuisine, and regulars can't get enough of the addictive fare. Folks hold Henry in high esteem, not only because of his food but the large servings (you'll likely leave with a bundle of leftovers) and fair prices. Among the options you'll find are house-smoked duck (and other meats), fried onion cakes, hot shredded pork, and kung pao chicken.   (© 10Best)

There is not a single dish on Hunan's menu that is not absolutely delicious. I've dined at the Hunan since 1967 -- sometimes almost daily. Now that I'm in Portland I visit Hunan every time I'm in town. The waitstaff is always friendly and efficient, the soup is always well flavored as is anything else on my plate. My favorites include the Chung family's special smoked ham, the chicken salad, the chicken curry, and on and on. Marty Chung carries on the tradition of his revered mother and father. The cookbook is a welcome addition to my library and in use constantly.

Ate there this evening based on "acclaim" from this website and others, but found it severely lacking. Unimaginative food that was not well seasoned. Soup lacked seasoning; chicken curry was extremely over-seasoned. Waitstaff was not even approximating friendly. Gentleman at the cashier window was extremely nice. There is nothing unusual about this place at all. I have had better food at virtually any Chinese restaurant in Dallas, so yes, I am very very disappointed. Would not recommend it to anyone.
