JAPANTOWN.   Intimate and diminutive, Maki presents an exquisite selection of Japanese cuisine. It's also one of the few restaurants in the United States to serve wappa meshi, bowls of steamed rice, vegetables, and meats. Elaborate kaiseki dinners and sushi are also available, and diners are encouraged to ask about selections not listed on the menu. Simply the best Japanese food in all San Francisco. My favorite over the years. Head and shoulders above the rest, and their sake selection is divine. A must if you're sick of everyday sushi and teriyaki. mmmmmm....
