5. Sambo's on the Beach

SANTA BARBARA.   At one time, this restaurant was part of a nationwide chain, but these days, it's the original and only remaining branch, so all the focus goes solely into its quality. Named after Sam and Bo, its founders' nicknames, the place serves terrific breakfast fare. Since 1957, the family-owned restaurant has offered eggs benedict, omelets, buttermilk pancakes, steak and eggs, pork chops and eggs, and even eggs with chorizo. Folks find it a great bargain for breakfast, and ocean views and a pleasant atmosphere don't hurt the cause either.   (© 10Best)
