8. Stella Mare's

MONTECITO.   Buttery colors, a crackling fireplace, and a charming greenhouse-like setting romance diners at this wonderful restaurant. Relaxed and friendly, Stella Mare's is reminiscent of a French country farmhouse – one that serves excellent Californian cuisine and great local wines. Oak-grilled artichokes make a savory appetizer, as do crab cakes with tomato-caper salsa. Follow up with pan-seared loin of buffalo, giant prawns and roasted halibut, handmade spinach ravioli, or grilled salmon with seasonal wild mushrooms.
