SANTA BARBARA.   A distinctive Mediterranean ambience pervades this celebrated restaurant, whose Argentinean cuisine mixes Italian and Spanish influences. Wrought iron, tilework, and a fantastic patio echo the theme, and live music adds to the effect during much of the week. Excellent Argentinean beef is a strong draw, and diners also find delight in tapas options and recipes from throughout Latin and South America. On occasion, you'll even discover folks tangoing as the impulse strikes. Great atmosphere and drinks.   (© 10Best)

Outstanding, flaky, empanadas appetizer, followed by Ensalada Buenos Aires ( very interesting salad with palm hearts, avocado, tomatoes, white beans, gorgonzola, & mixed greens with balsamic vinaigrette) and Silvias Chicken (marinated grilled chicken breast serverd over sauteed spinach & a grilled portobello with asparagus, mango salsa and a juniper-balsamic reduction). Best iced tea we have tasted. With the archways, sunbrellas and striped aprons and white shirts on the wait staff, it reminded us of being on the western coast of Italy. Superb.
