The Bataan Memorial Museum, housed in an old armory building, was opened as a tribute to New Mexicans who have served in the military. The museum houses some 30,000 items, from World War I to the more recent Desert Storm, with an emphasis on the Bataan veterans who fought the Japanese in the Philippines in 1942.

Built in 1917, this is the oldest art museum in New Mexico. The permanent collection here has 8,000 works of art that represent the Taos school of artists as well as other American artists. Besides the permanent collection, you will find 12 shows a year that showcase different regional artists.
