4. Firestone Vineyard

LOS OLIVOS.   Owners of eight separate vineyards perched atop three mesas in the Santa Ynez Valley, the Firestones are firmly entrenched as one of the Central Coast's foremost winemaking families. From their vineyards (established in 1972) come Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Merlot, and Syrah varietals that have garnered praise from the "New York Times," "California Grapevine," and the "San Francisco Chronicle." In addition, Firestone wines have won numerous awards, including a gold medal for the 2000 Sauvignon Blanc at the prestigious San Francisco International Wine Competition. Tours of the winery are given at a quarter past the hour every day and conclude in the tasting room, wherein guests can sample the latest products.   (© 10Best)
