5. La Purisima Mission

LOMPOC.   Covering some 1900 acres, La Purisima Mission State Historic Park boasts ten buildings that comprised the original mission. Founded in 1787, La Purisima was the eleventh Franciscan mission constructed in California. The buildings, carefully restored to their original states, include the padres' residence, soldiers' quarters, and artisan shops. The mission staff provides daily guided tours (except during special events) which generally last from 60 to 90 minutes.   (© 10Best)
