1. Downtown Arroyo Grande & City Hall Farmers' Market

ARROYO GRANDE.   Located just east of Pismo Beach, the quaint town of Arroyo Grande dates to 1862, when merchants and craftsmen began setting up shop to service farms in the fertile valley. The town took its name (it means "big gulch" in Spanish) from the wide creek that cut through the city limits. Today, Arroyo Grande's downtown recollects a simpler time, and its stucco and brick buildings are home to unique shops, sidewalk cafes, and coffee shops. On Saturdays, when the farmers' market is open, artists often showcase their works at the town gazebo, and local musicians occasionally treat crowds to a concert.   (© 10Best)
