BOCA CHICA. This restaurant provides all diners with "resort" treatment, whether they're staying at the hotel or not. Spiny lobster, served a la carte and considered the restaurant's specialty, practically melts in your mouth. Other recommended entrées include tempting shellfish salads and red snapper sautéed in lemon sauce. Located at the Coral Hamaca Beach Hotel resort.

MALECON. The best reason to visit La Bahía is the abundance of fresh seafood incorporated into entrées throughout the day. A crew of local fishermen supplies the restaurant with just-caught items, and it's not unusual to find lobster soup, seafood chowder, and flawlessly seared red snapper awaiting your arrival. Once the main meal is out of the way, satisfy your sweet tooth with a flambéed dessert featuring fresh fruit and a smidgen of ice cream.

PUNTA CANA. This unique restaurant provides guests with wonderful views of the water and some of the most delicious seafood entrées in the city. Start with arugula and grilled squid salad before moving on to more filling treats like marinated shrimp or grilled lobster in buttery garlic sauce. Tiramisu is an ideal way to finish your seafood meal.

MALECON. Probably the most popular restaurant in Santo Domingo, Vesuvio has been pleasing diners for over half a century. Pasta dishes are prepared with fresh spices and often feature recently caught seafood, including lobster, mussels, shrimp, and red snapper. "Squid's Ink Pasta" may sound curious, but local diners have discovered that anything out of the kitchen is delicious and tastefully prepared. For a more relaxed, less formal meal, head for the attached dining room, which serves pastas and pizzas.
