Sarasota's Mote Aquarium is actually an open-to-the-public research facility. A visit here is an excellent opportunity to get up close and personal with stingrays, sea horses, manatees, and the occasional shark. The facility also offers visitors the Mote Café and the Aquarium Gift Shop. General admission includes access to Mote Aquarium, the Ann and Alfred E. Goldstein Marine Mammal Center and Immersion Cinema.

My wife and I took our 13 month old and his 3 ˝ year old sister to the Mote Aquarium last week. We had a wonderful time. The layout is well planned and allowed for plenty of space for the kids to experience each animal at their own pace. The Manatees, dolphins, and “shark tank” were a big hit. My daughter was so impressed she asked to go back the next day (so we did). A must see on a cloudy day.
