2. Alligator Soul

Alligator Soul took root in Savannah’s Historic District in 2003, expanding the city’s limited cadre of fine dining restaurants with an emphasis on the freshest organic and local foods. Restaurateurs Hilary and Maureen Craig had cut their teeth on Seattle’s restaurant scene, and arrived ready to craft a memorable dining experience from menu to surroundings. History provides the atmosphere – Alligator Soul’s underground setting was once a grain warehouse (ca. 1885) -- and Hilary’s experience in developing Hollywood movie sets came in handy during the renovations. Chef Christopher Dinello designs a seasonal menu of beef, lamb, day-boat fish and elegant vegetarian offerings. Alligator Soul also boasts an extensive wine cellar and full bar. During the week, the $35-per-person Prix Fixe menu (Sunday through Thursday only) covers a three-course meal with wine. Dinner served seven days a week.
