WEST CHATHAM.   Open since 1924, this local standby is known for its friendly, old-fashioned style and homestyle fare. Filet mignon, veal Oscar, and prime rib make delicious appearances, but Southern-style numbers really raise eyebrows. Succulent barbecued ribs and crispy fried chicken are among the headliners, and the kitchen even sees fit to toss in fresh seafood dishes, like the legendary crabmeat au gratin. I ordered BBQ pork and chicken. WOW, was this wonderful. Everything I was looking for in a traditional Southern restaurant. Mac and cheese was better than average and the greens were like my grandma made when I was a child. Would go back and take friends anytime. Service was fast and friendly. I wish I could have had more than two glasses of lemon aide!!! My wife enjoyed the crab soup as well!
