HISTORIC DISTRICT. Set in a historic building that boasts exposed brick walls, arched windows, and vintage photographs, Belford's is a local mainstay. And while it offers terrific steaks, it also makes a brisk business of serving incredible seafood dishes. Start with a hefty crab cake enlivened with spiced tomato jam and lemon aioli before moving to Cajun lobster ravioli, grilled mahi mahi, blackened salmon with crawfish béarnaise sauce, or shrimp, greens, and grits, a Low Country favorite that goes upscale with Chardonnay butter sauce. If you're in the mood for red meat, premium steaks come with your choice of sauce, green vegetable, and the house's buttermilk garlic mashed potatoes.

HISTORIC DISTRICT. Olde Pink House is where Savannah's elite go to eat, and the food, expectedly enough, is fantastic! Seafood and Southern fare are at the forefront, as proven by she-crab soup, Caesar salad with fried oysters, and all sorts of fresh fish, from flounder to trout. Try grouper with blue crab in Vidalia onion sauce, or go for one of the delicious pork, duck, and veal dishes. The special dessert is sweet ice cream in a praline basket – nothing more needs to be said about that! Downstairs, Olde Pink House boasts the cozy Planters Tavern, which features live music on Saturday nights.

RIVERFRONT. Overlooking the Savannah River, the interior of this historic warehouse features an oversized plastic fish and marine themed paintings lining the brick walls. Rich, flavorful seafood dishes grace the menu, which includes pecan crusted tilapia with Low Country grits and grilled zucchini, and fried whole flounder with mango apricot glaze. The bakery's divine creations – Georgia pecan pie, praline or chocolate cheesecake, dutch apple tart and fudge walnut pie – make a final splash.

HISTORIC DISTRICT. This reputable restaurant occupies a historic 18th-century stone warehouse and offers a beautiful view of the Savannah River. It does offer exemplary steaks, including a succulent prime rib, but Chart House specializes in seafood. Among its popular options are macadamia-crusted mahi mahi, coconut crunchy shrimp, and pan-seared sea scallops. Crab legs and lobster tail are also constant hits. For dessert, the famous mud pie is a can't-miss, and an ample selection of wines and whiskey adds to the appeal.

RIVERFRONT. A white-painted brick building with candy-striped awnings establishes a cheery welcome at this long-lived eatery. Wood flooring, beams, and walls create a charming, rustic vibe, and there's typically a fun atmosphere at the bar. The restaurant has many options but places an emphasis on shrimp, crab, and fish selections. You'll also enjoy pine bark stew (a Southern bouillabaisse), charbroiled yellowfin tuna, baked deviled crabs, and a hefty seafood platter. In addition, the Shrimp Factory offers one of the best happy hours on River Street, and its Chatham Artillery Punch will have a positive effect on your mood!

TYBEE ISLAND. Everybody loves the Crab Shack, locals and tourists alike! They've even had their share of celebrity visitors. The best part about eating at the Crab Shack is sitting under the huge canopy of live oak trees with the view of the marsh. The Lowcountry Boil, a mixture of shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes, is especially popular. Much of their seafood is steamed, which will appeal to the health conscious. Prices are also reasonable. Take your friends, wear something casual, and sit back and enjoy the view while you eat some of the best seafood in Savannah.

HISTORIC DISTRICT. With a tradition of hospitality dating back to 1753, this establishment did, indeed, cater to seamen early on. These days, it's got a more sedate clientele, and they're more inclined to gluttony than to marauding. Locals frequently recommend the highly rated restaurant, and its 15 different dining rooms can handle a host of patrons. The menu specializes in seafood (everything from a stomach-sating seafood platter to grouper Florentine), and there's a terrific, reasonably-priced Southern lunch buffet as well from 11am till 3pm. Fabulous desserts round out a great meal.
