A menu of innovative American cuisine features steaks and seafood, all impeccably prepared and served by a knowledgeable staff. Terrific options include a bone-in rib-eye, salt-crusted salmon, and potato-wrapped lobster. The comfortable setting is also ideal for savoring a bottle from the extensive wine list. A long-standing area favorite.

SCOTTSDALE. Everybody loves Don & Charlie's. The walls are laden with a mind-boggling assortment of sports memorabilia and celebrity autographs, creating a relaxed atmosphere that's ideal for a little male bonding or a casual family gathering. Complimentary chicken liver pate is a favorite way to prepare your taste buds for what's to come slow cooked prime rib, grilled lamb chops, aged prime steaks, hickory smoked baby back ribs, or barbecued chicken so tender it falls from the bone. Reservations recommended.

The Scottsdale location of this national chain is praised for its comfortably elegant atmosphere, solid selection of prime beef, and noteworthy wine list, most of which is served by the glass. Treat your special someone or a business partner to a 12 oz. filet mignon, 16 oz. prime rib-eye, or to beef Flemington a filet encased in puff pastry with a creamy duxelles. Seafood selections include New Zealand salmon fillet in cabernet butter sauce and tuna mignon seared rare with poppy seed au poivre. Take advantage of Discovery Dinners for groups of six or more, which feature four-course menus with wine pairings.

DOWNTOWN. Pristine tables dressed in crisp white linens line this narrow restaurant, made elegant with an abundance of rich, dark woods and recessed light fixtures. Possessed of an old-fashioned, downtown classiness, the steakhouse is a great choice for a business dinner or special night out. Choose from a delicious array of seafood appetizers, like chilled crab legs or a lobster cocktail. A New York strip, porterhouse, rib-eye, and several filets compose the well-rounded list of prime steaks and chops. A tangy, creamy slice of key lime pie is the natural culinary conclusion.

NORTH SCOTTSDALE. In a nod to a bygone era of fine dining, Mastro's recreates the intimate, elegant, swanky ambience of steakhouses from the '50s and '60s. Accents of river rock and dark wood foster an upscale, classy atmosphere the perfect setting for a truly exceptional dinner. Steaks are dry-aged and seasoned with a house blend of spices, resulting in tender, flavorful entrιes whether you choose a bone-in filet, chef's-cut New York strip, or rib-eye chop. Seafood, lamb, veal, and pork also have a place on the menu, as does a lengthy list of sides, including ten preparations of potatoes.

Excellent service and an inviting, sophisticated atmosphere are standard, along with a pleasant, well-attended lounge. In the restaurant, the menu is presented tableside, and appetizers range from Cockenoe oysters on the half shell to a fresh lump crabmeat cocktail. Entrees include steaks like double filet mignon, New York strip, and Tenderloin Bruchette. Lobster, veal, and chicken are also available. Desserts include fresh raspberries in Sabayon sauce, crθme caramel, and Godiva hot chocolate cake. Business casual attire. Reservations recommended.

OLD TOWN. Packed with baseball memorabilia, this Scottsdale standby is a hit with locals as well as with major league players who visit Arizona each spring for Cactus League ball. The menu is filled with traditional steakhouse fare (including the popular prime rib of beef au jus), along with poultry, seafood, and hearty sides. Lunchtime sees affordable, hearty sandwiches and a busy scene at the bar while weekend nights often feature live music. With a little something for everyone, Pink Pony is a natural choice for a relaxed evening with family or friends.

NORTH SCOTTSDALE. Although its reputation is as a tourist haven, Pinnacle Peak attracts plenty of local families, who enjoy Wild West shows, kid-friendly eats, and festive atmosphere. Able to seat thousands, the restaurant is more of a complex than a mere eatery, featuring multiple dining rooms and three patios with superb views of the nearby McDowell Mountains. Basic, well-prepared dishes populate the brief menu, including a 32 oz. porterhouse, 14 oz. New York strip, and a ½ lb. steak burger. A word of warning ties, even if inadvertently worn, will be unceremoniously removed with scissors.

NORTH SCOTTSDALE. As you'd expect in a sumptuous resort setting, Acacia delivers exquisite cuisine, well-considered wine pairings, and a truly spectacular view. While the menu is partially comprised of upscale New American fare, juicy, well-prepared steaks, game, and seafood also find a welcome place. A variety of beef options includes domestic and foreign selections, including grass-fed Southwestern beef and Australian Wagyu. Look for venison, duck, and buffalo as well.
