DOWNTOWN. Initially, this stately home was a private residence, built for George Catlin in 1912 in Tudor Revival style. A brick first storey and half-timbered gables impart period character, and the 16-room interior is ornately detailed with decorative items, furnishings, and walnut woodwork. Now serving as headquarters for the Lackawanna Historical Society, the structure is a repository of Scranton's history, thanks to artifacts, photographs, and books. The home is accessible to visitors via guided tours.
