Same old story
I used to be a fan of the place but lately the service is terrible and the bartenders are rude. The place is nicely decorated but very uncomfortable. I will have to say that it is better than Kildare's. More authentic but the service at Kildare's is better.

JT, good review, spot on. I was there last night and can confirm "this place is complete bull *****.... " LARGE SIGN OVER BAR READS (october 16,2007): Octoberfest: EVERY TUESDAY NIGHT BEER AND BRATS - $2 ALL GERMAN BEERS WEBSITE reads (october 17,2007): "2 Buck Tuesdays are starting on October 2nd. Enjoy German draught beer, Big Pretzels and Brats." WARNING: Do not question the authority of the bartender to charge $2.75 for a beer that is clearly advertised at $2.00. Her explanation was that we all interpreted the sign wrong. Then we were asked to leave. No further explanation. Too bad our bill was already paid. In all fairness the place has amazing potential. Everything was in place for a good rating except competent management. Our service was good, food was good and $2.75 is still a bargain for a German draft - but why the false advertising and why the confrontational management? They prefer to ask you to leave than correct the bill and bartenders from my experiences usually have personalities.

We had a great time at this pub. The bartender's were friendly and informative. Tuesdays are 2 buck Tuesdays, but does not say beer was $2. We had brats and pretzels for $2. The atmosphere was terrific.

This restaurant is all hype, and the substance is deplorable. From the first when we were refused seating because one of our party was underage (she doesn't drink anyway) to the WORST service I've ever seen in a restaurant THIS side of the ocean, to food that was substandard (the tomatoes in the salad were rotten, the fish was hard as a rock, and tasted old, and the coffee was so old it crawled), added on top of a waitress who was a) rude, b) inept, c) completely inattentive - I will recommend that people stay AWAY from this restaurant. The only GOOD thing I can say is that the atmosphere was lovely, and the interior is beautiful.

this place is complete bull shit.... i used to be a huge fan of this place...i used to go there every st pats day and if your from scranton you know this is a huge deal around here. but i was recently at this establishment and i was extremely rude to, the waitress cursed at me and my date and muffed our order twice and we were forced to wait 50 minutes for a sandwhich to be brought back and to be honest we waitied until the waitress came back out and cursed us out yet again. this places food isnt good enough by a great margain to to up with the staff or the management

I checked this place out about a month ago and did not like it very much. Reminded me of all the other Irish bars we have in Scranton but this one was big and wide open. The food is ok at best but the worst part was our service. Terrible. Would not return. A 3 out of 5.
