6. Coney Island Lunch

DOWNTOWN.   Since 1923, this downtown eatery has been a lunchtime staple. Set in a brick building dating to 1909, Coney Island Lunch serves tons of chili-topped, grilled hot dogs to appreciative locals. Patrons also know how to tackle juicy burgers and plates of gravy-draped fries while talking baseball and checking out the wall memorabilia. Sweeten the deal with a slice of pie or – better yet – a dish of rich, homemade rice pudding graced with a dollop of whipped cream. This place is 2nd to the original Coney Island in my book. The wieners are not wieners -- they are hot dogs, and the atmosphere is nothing compared to the original. A 1 out of 5.
