DOWNTOWN. If you can't get a reservation for lunch or dinner at Campagne and still want to experience the award-winning, bistro-style restaurant, then try the café for breakfast. You can't go wrong, and you can visit the Market while in the area. A quintessential Parisian decor provides a delightful backdrop for a fine morning meal, including freshly squeezed orange juice and steaming coffee. Try French toast made with brioche and bourbon egg batter or a fluffy omelet stuffed with potatoes and laced with rosemary.

EDMONDS. Cozy and without pretense, this Edmonds gem enjoys a loyal local following, thanks to a refreshing combination of neighborly service and terrific, continental eats. Breakfast, which earns top billing here, features the kitchen's signature orange cornmeal waffles, cinnamon-raisin French toast, and delicious omelets. Lunch and dinner crowds, though, are not forgotten, and dishes like Shrimp Scampi San Feliciano, Main Street Meat Loaf, and lamb shank flavored by a rosemary-red wine sauce are sure to please. Gourmet coffees and sublime desserts are available as well.

CAPITOL HILL. This lively spot is known for its quarterly-changing menu that highlights a regional cuisine. So, in addition to the regular breakfast menu, you may find specialties like New Orleans po' boy breakfast sandwich, pain perdu (New Orleans-style French toast), or a Bourbon Street omelet. If you sleep through the usual breakfast hours, don't fret – Coastal Kitchen serves it till 3pm, and you can get the "All-Day Breakfast" any time (that's bacon, sausage, or ham, hash browns, three eggs, and toast). Local artists supply new themed pieces whenever the menu changes, and all of it is for sale.

MADRONA. What was originally a lovely Victorian home has been transformed into a hip restaurant. The unbeatable breakfast menu features cheese-baked eggs, omelets, breakfast burritos, ham steaks, and vegetarian selections. Be sure to try massive cinnamon rolls and world-class scones, and enjoy the patio during warm weather. The mid-day menu is served from 11:30am and includes fresh salads, sandwiches, and soups.

BELLTOWN. Some fans say this tiny café is the best bakery in Seattle. It packs a crowd at lunch, but breakfast is a great time to relax in the cozy, artsy dining room and enjoy fresh coffee and juices. Located in an old, rural schoolhouse (circa 1911), this Maltby charmer cures the morning blues with a wide assortment of hearty, old-fashioned country eats, including maple-syrup smothered French toast, specialty omelets, and football-sized fresh-baked cinnamon buns. Lunch too, earns rave reviews, with options ranging from soups and salads to sandwiches and heartier meat and vegetable plates. Friendly service and pleasant surroundings punctuate the experience.

FREMONT. A great deal for your buck, this Fremonter is known all across town for its huge breakfast portions. Indeed, the place gets packed once the doors are open each AM, with the hodgepodge clientele swapping opinions on current events while enjoying traditional offerings of blueberry pancakes, corned beef hash, omelets, and hearty scrambles. The Dish's funky decor and upbeat music combine to make it a popular gathering spot with young folks, especially on the weekend. Lunches of delicious sandwiches and Gibraltar-sized burgers are also served.

DOWNTOWN. Some would say that this restaurant, accented with crystal chandeliers, potted palms, and rich fabrics, is Seattle's grandest. From elegant decor to fine Northwest cuisine, the establishment is sublime. A well-trained, knowledgeable staff serves beautifully-presented dishes, such as eggs benedict, lemon-ricotta pancakes, NY steak and eggs, smoked salmon omelet, and orange French toast. Impress important clients with an early-morning breakfast meeting and usher in the day with a superb meal too. Although the experience is pricey, it's ideal for special occasions and expense accounts.
