Built by Arabs in the 13th century as a control point for the traffic of the Guadalquivir, the upper part of the tower was added 500 years later. One legend attributes the name "Torre del Oro" (Tower of Gold) to the building being a storehouse for gold from the New World in the 16th and 17th centuries, while another suggests the tower was once lined with gold. It contains a wealth of maritime artifacts such as navigation instruments, scale models, etchings, and correspondence. Enjoy a stunning view from the tower.
