2. Caines Head State Recreation Area

SEWARD.   Though there is a parking lot at Lowell Point, it is easiest to access this 6,000-acre recreation area by water taxi. A seven-mile coastal trail awaits you, as well as campsites and an abandoned World War II fort. It is important to stay on the trails since the steep cliffs can be hazardous, and your hike must be timed for low tide since the three miles between Tonsina Point and North Beach are under water at other times.   (© 10Best)
