HOMER.   Access to this park is by air or sea only, so plan to charter a water taxi to take you to the Halibut Cove public dock. This is also the site of the ranger station where you can get maps of the more than 80 miles of trails that crisscross the region. In addition to wilderness camping, the park has several public-use cabins and latrines. Thanks to its seclusion, the Kachemak Bay State is home to moose, bear, mountain goats, coyotes, and wolves. Large numbers of eagles and puffins make for satisfying bird watching.   (© 10Best)
