SEWARD. Visit the Seavey family if only to cuddle their adorable husky puppies that will, one day, race in the famous 1,150-mile Iditarod. In the summers, the Seaveys run the trails just outside of Seward, using a full 12-dog team and a wheeled vehicle to create the feeling of a dog sled. In the winter, the Seaveys move to Sterling, which is home base for their Iditarod training team—three generations of the family have competed in the race. Whether on the snow or over dry ground, this is as close as you can get to the thrill of racing in the Iditarod.
