After a special grant of five million pounds, the Botanical Gardens of Sheffield once again reflect the attention and care that make English gardens famous. There are three pavilions designed and constructed by John Paxton, the architect for the Crystal Palace, and more than 18 acres of plants, trees, shrubs, and floral splendor. The gardens are a lovely way to spend an afternoon, and there is a visitor's center, shop, and café on-site as well.
