A brief explanation of this site will give you reason to visit. In the year 1170, Thomas à Beckett was murdered by four knights in Canterbury Cathedral. One of those knights, Robert Fitzranulph, felt such guilt by his actions that he renounced the temporal life and built this abbey on a beautiful spot of land. There he spent his last days as a Canon of Beauchief, (pronounced Beechiff). It was once the property of Henry VIII, and today the only structure standing is the chapel. Beauchief Abbey overlooks beautiful woodlands and a golf course. (© 10Best) More Details for Beauchief AbbeyHours: Daily 10am-7pm Type: Historic Sites, Religious Sites |
