6. Muthu's Curry Restaurant

LITTLE INDIA.   Muthu's had a humble beginning as a hawker stall, but today it boasts some 300 seats, most of which are occupied by happy locals all through lunch and dinner. Specializing in fish head curry (rich spicy gravy with, yes, a fish head in it), it's something of a legend in Singapore. The dish is generally considered an authentic Singaporean invention, although there are those who insist the concoction actually hails from India. Whatever its origins, fish head curry is a staple for many people, and the speed with which they can pick a fish head clean of all meat is astonishing. However, if the idea of eating something that stares back at you is less than appetizing, Muthu's has a wide selection of south Indian favorites such as chicken biryani.   (© 10Best)
