4. Esplanade Mall

FINANCIAL DISTRICT.   Because of its spiky exterior, the waterfront Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay is also frequently referred to as "The Durians." Inside, though, it's a classy and upscale arts and entertainment complex, with a large theater, concert hall, and various smaller performance spaces. Part of the complex, the Esplanade Mall is sleek and attractive, with several shops devoted to different aspects of the arts: records and musical instruments, fine art, jewelry and more.
