BROWNSVILLE.   This 30-plus-acre zoological and botanical park is dedicated to preserving – and increasing education about – sub-tropical mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. Indeed, more than 1500 different animals from around the world inhabit the Gladys Porter Zoo, and the park's 350,000 annual guests can get up-close and personal with everything from Galapagos tortoises and spider monkeys to Cuban crocodiles and kangaroos.
