8. The Beacon Drive-In

A bona fide legend in these parts, The Beacon has been a presence in Spartanburg since 1946. Today, it's the country's second-largest drive-in restaurant, serving a million people each year. When you enter, be prepared to order, because there's no time for dawdling at the counter. The menu's extensive, but you can't go wrong with the chili cheese a-plenty, a burger made to your specs and topped with fries and onion rings. Sliced pork and catfish get raves as well. Wash it all down with their famous iced tea, and then step into the Dairy Bar for a thick, creamy shake or a malt. A local favorite!   (© 10Best)
