SOUTH HILL. This South Hill landmark is an awe-inspiring Gothic-style cathedral made from sandstone. The structure was completed in 1969 and includes an archive room that commemorates those who have fallen in battle. The cathedral's stained glass windows depict scenes from books of the Bible, and there are various interior stone carvings illustrating the history of the church. Tours are offered four days a week; if you can, however, try to visit on Thursday so you can enjoy the beautiful sound of the cathedral's weekly 49-bell carillon concert.
