7. Steam Plant Square

DOWNTOWN.   Steam Plant Square, which is actually located in a former steam plant, is a fascinating feat of restoration. Revealed pipes, conduits, and brick towers surround the various restaurants, shops, and offices now housed here. Some of the walls are decorated with paintings and other types of artwork, helping to make the square feel very cozy. The structure was once Washington Water and Power's Central Steam Plant and the downtown area's main source of heat.   (© 10Best)
