WAITE PARK. This park, reclaimed from former granite quarries, offers a wealth of activities across its 640-plus acres. Hiking and cross-country skiing trails crisscross the area, and folks also bike and snowshoe in the vicinity. Fishing is popular as well, along with enjoying the somewhat rugged landscape, with its rocky hills and beautiful, natural vistas. Plant life can be spectacular, and swimming is available in one of the water-filled quarries (and scuba diving for qualified individuals). Additional leisure facilities are planned.
