COLLEGEVILLE. In an effort to preserve the world's early thoughts, learning, and discoveries, this institution has set out to photograph as many manuscripts as possible from the era before 1550. As such, its staff travels the globe, documenting libraries and holdings throughout Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. More than 25 million pages have been preserved on microfilm thus far, and students and researchers now have access to these amazing artifacts. All fields of knowledge are represented, along with a variety of languages. The facility is also known for its focus on medieval studies.
