CHRISTIANSTED. Harvey's doesn't take credit cards, isn't open for dinner, and boasts yard-sale décor, but fabulous food keeps locals and visitors coming back time after time. Owner and cook Sarah Harvey serves traditional island fare in large, fresh-cooked portions. Homemade callaloo stew, chicken soup, or conch with butter make a great start, and main courses include goat stew, barbecued spareribs, or boiled fish. Rice, vegetables and fungi (breaded okra) are preferred sides for most entrees. Homemade tarts, such as coconut and guava, appear for dessert.
