Located downtown, the Rooms at Townshend is a modern cultural center housing the Newfoundland Museum, the Provincial Archives of Newfoundland and Labrador and the notable Art Gallery of Newfoundland and Labrador. The gallery is the largest art gallery in the province with more than 4,000 pieces of art on permanent display, and the gallery often hosts national and international exhibits. Artists from Newfoundland and Labrador created many of the works, but other Canadian talents are represented as well.
