This well-known St. Louis landmark was once the country's busiest passenger-rail terminal. The century old Romanesque-style building is designed with enormous arched ceilings, skylights, exposed beams and girders, polished brick walkways, and brass railings. It has been beautifully restored and houses more than 80 unique shops, restaurants, a hotel, nightlife, and even a small lake – all under a single roof. (© 10Best) There's plenty to do downtown, including a visit to Union Station for food and shopping. Located about two miles from the Arch, it opened in 1884 and once housed the nation's busiest railroad station. It's now home to restaurants, shops, a movie theater, a concert stage, and a manmade lake where you can rent paddleboats.
