This scenic square, originally dubbed Columbus Square, was renamed in 1992 for native son who won the Nobel Prize for literature. Brazil Street, Laborie Street, Micoud Street, and Bourbon Street form the perimeter of this little park that boasts a 400-year-old samaan tree. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, built in 1897, is at one end of the square with the Carnegie Library at the other end.
