At this St. Paul museum, discover the life of Jane Gibbs. As a child she became friends with the Dakotah people, learning their language and customs. She assumed the life of a pioneer woman when she married Herman Gibbs and helped him build up their farm. She continued to foster a close relationship with the Dakotah who camped on their land. At this working pioneer museum you can discover the homes, gardens, culture and history of this pioneer family and their Native American neighbors..   (© 10Best)

I loved the Gibbs Museum. I learned about Jane's early life with the Dakotah of Lake Calhoun and Heman and Jane's life in their Pioneer farmhouse. I have participated in a field trip to the museum and would recommend it for anyone interested in history. Tours leave on a schedule so expect a little wait until the tour starts. But it's worth the wait
