DOWNTOWN / IRVINE PARK.   For nearly 150 years, Joseph Lybrandt Forepaugh's impressive mansion has maintained a watchful eye over the historic Irvine Park area. The restored Victorian home boasts antiques, elegant chandeliers, and period furnishings. Locals have long considered Forepaugh's menu among the best in town, and representative entrees include lamb loin with thyme-infused sauce, spiced mango chicken, and halibut with coconut curry. I have eaten here a number of times and have yet to have anything I don't love. The twin tournedos are fabulous as is the duck and lamb. Brunch is very enjoyable as well. Highly recommended!

Veal is absolutely crushing to me. This restaurant needs to work on morals- - - too meaty. Otherwise, a cool, historic place.
