3. Heritage Village

LARGO.   As Pinellas County developed, many of its oldest structures were slated for demolition in the name of progress. Thanks to local efforts, many of these buildings were salvaged and collected on a 21-acre site known as Heritage Village. Nowadays, two dozen structures – some dating back to the mid 19th century – provide glimpses into the past. Among them are a train depot, store, church, school, outhouse, and many private residences. Also on the property is the county's Historical Museum, which boasts historical documents, photos, and artifacts.   (© 10Best)
