ST. PETERSBURG.
Having an aquarium at The Pier seems a natural fit, and its exhibits enjoy an immediacy that may not be as strong at inland facilities. The place concentrates on education and mesmerizes visitors with information about (and viewings of) ocean creatures, both animal and vegetable. Different marine environments from around the world are displayed, and interactive events ensure that information connects to first-hand experience and delight. Great for kids and a fun stop-off during time spent at The Pier. Admission is reduced on Sunday.

Don't waste your time
My husband and I visited the Pier "Aquarium" this past week on our vacation to St. Pete. It was only a $5 admission, and we figured since we wanted to check out the pier area anyway, why not? After entering the area, I can see why it was $5. We had a coupon that made it $4/each, and I still thought that was overpriced for this place, which in my opinion, is a glorified fish tank. There are a few fish tanks around with different types of tropical fish, jellyfish, etc, which are cool to see, but the "hands-on" experience consisted of letting you hold a couple mini sea urchins which were in a tank with sand dollars and shells that weren't even alive anymore. I think it took us about 10 minutes to walk through the whole space. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you have kids/grandkids to take there who are 2-4 years old. I think they're the only ones who would be semi-impressed with this place -- definitely no "wow" factor here. I can't believe they can even call themselves an aquarium.
