TIERRA VERDE. Spread across several barrier islands and encompassing 900 acres of terrain, this much-frequented park is perfect for families, as you'll see most any weekend. Seven miles of beaches give it its strongest punch, but you'll also find a fort from the days of the Spanish-American War, plus campsites, picnic facilities, playgrounds, boat launches, two fishing piers, and miles of recreational trails. Snack vendors, restrooms, and swimming areas also draw folks, and the protected North Beach Lagoon offers calm waters in which children can swim. A leisure-lover's paradise.
