ST. PETERSBURG.   The giant rooster that keeps vigil at Jack's entrance provides ample indication that this isn't your run-of-the-mill eatery. Inside, a collection of homey kitsch confirms suspicions, although the kitchen proves unexpectedly adept, as evidenced by eggs florentine, stuffed French toast, brains and eggs, and creamed chipped beef. Naturally, more familiar options also figure in, like sausage, eggs, grits, waffles, biscuits, and hash browns. Helpings are hearty, and it's definitely not health food – thank goodness!
