4. Columbia Restaurant

ST. PETERSBURG.   A venerable classic, this Spanish restaurant has been family-owned and operated since 1905. Its location on the fourth floor of The Pier allows it to command great views of the ocean via walls of windows. With all this atmosphere, the food could take a back seat, but that's hardly the case. Paella is chock full of fresh local seafood, and Spanish bean soup is hearty and rich with garbanzos and chorizo. The "1905" salad, a family recipe, is tossed at your table and features a pungent garlic dressing that will have you hooked. Chicken, seafood, steak, and pork benefit from skillful seasoning and preparation as well, and you would be remiss not to try the Godiva chocolate cake.   (© 10Best)

Recently, Feb. '09, nine members of the SPHS Class of '53 had lunch at the Columbia. We had many different dishes and all were delicious. Dessert selection was so interesting, I had two! Our waiter, Scott, was terrific, too. Can't wait for another trip to St. Pete and the Columbia at the Pier.

My daughter and I had dinner here last July, and it was the best food I have ever eaten. The service is outstanding. The views breathtaking. A must if you visit St. Pete!
